How to successfully invest in land in Kenya in 2021
Identify the company selling land in an area of your interest and contact them directly
Get to know when they begun operations, their physical offices, their digital presence and the projects they have done.
Physically visit the land by attending a site visit
View the beacons and the value adds in the project.
Conduct a Title Deed Search at the Lands Registry
Request for a copy of the project’s title deed from the company. You can either do an online search via E-citizen or manually at the Registry. This will help you establish whether the title deed is freehold or leasehold and whether a caveat has been placed against it
Select your preferred plot and make payments
Select your preferred plot, make payments and obtain receipts. Also fill in the legal documents and agree on title deed processing timelines
Collect your title deed
This will ensure that your name is correctly written on the title deed. Lastly, do a last title deed search to ensure the ownership details now read your name
